Who Am I?
I don’t look forward to making ‘About’ pages. They seem braggy. I just created an entire website about myself, but this page seems braggy. Anyway ——
My name is Kyra Lindsay. I was part of the unfortunate class of 2020 that graduated college entering the world in a state of complete and utter disarray. Not to mention the job market trying to figure out how to keep people employed and at home. Yet here I am, trying to find work in a world that does not work—enough of the pity party. I will tell you why I keep trying in what seems like a hopeless society.
I have always known what I have wanted to do. Of course, when I was seven, there was talk of being a food stylist, but I have always wanted to be a publicist for most of my academic life. Which was funny to most of my family as they did not know what this was, nor did most of the adult world. The terms ‘publicist’ or ‘public relations’ have different meanings depending on who defines them. Personally, I love that.
When I first applied to colleges, I wanted a Public Relations major, but of course, it was not highly offered. I found my perfect school and program and enjoyed every minute of it. I studied under PR professionals who have been mentioned in Forbes, worked with Edelman, and would provide us with modern publicity tactics that almost seemed clandestine.
Since graduating, virtually, I noticed the combination of public relations and advertising toward a social media angle. I am not changing what I love; it is that my love is evolving to fit modern times. Social media is vital to publicity and marketing. It is a route I am very interested in and knowledgeable about. I hope to find a fit in the professional world that will allow me to explore the ever-evolving, elusive public relations.
